Summer 2025: Personal Financial Planning Intern, Kyndal Maike
At StoryOne, we believe great financial planners don’t just bring technical skill. They bring heart, intention and a deep commitment to people. That’s why we’re so excited to introduce our summer intern, Kyndal Maike, a rising talent from Kansas State University who’s bringing all of that and more to the StoryOne team.
Kyndal first discovered StoryOne at a professional connections event hosted by K-State for its Personal Financial Planning students. From her first conversation with Cameron Bond, she sensed something different. “StoryOne felt more personal, reflective, and intentional,” she said. “It was clear this was the kind of environment and the kind of people I wanted to learn and grow around.”

That sense of intentionality is a theme in everything Kyndal does. A proud member of K-State’s nationally recognized Personal Financial Planning program, she’s developed a strong foundation in both technical knowledge and the relational side of planning. “The curriculum is hands-on and built around real-world application,” she explained. “And the professors are incredibly supportive. I’ve gained mentors and confidence that I can truly make a difference in people’s lives.”

This summer, Kyndal is most excited to see financial planning in action. She’s eager to sit in on client meetings, observe how advisors guide conversations, and be part of the work that happens behind the scenes, taking plans from discovery to delivery.
One of the highlights of her academic experience so far was an insurance proposal she created for a fictional family in her risk management course. “I loved taking complex strategies and turning them into a clear, client-friendly presentation,” she said. “It confirmed how much I enjoy making important ideas accessible and helping protect what people care about most.”
When she’s not studying or working, Kyndal can be found outside mowing, fishing, golfing, or playing slow-pitch softball with friends. A self-described active and outdoorsy person, she loves staying busy but also knows how to unwind with a good movie when the time is right.
Kyndal’s work ethic is deeply rooted in her upbringing. Growing up on her family’s corn and soybean farm, she learned the value of consistency, effort, and doing things the right way from her dad and grandparents. “He taught me that hard work doesn’t always bring instant results. But if you stick with it, the payoff will come.”

“He taught me that hard work doesn’t always bring instant results. But if you stick with it, the payoff will come.”

Looking ahead, Kyndal’s vision is clear. She hopes to earn her CFP® certification, work for a values-based firm like StoryOne, and one day bring financial planning services to underserved communities. In her own words, “Helping people align their money with their purpose. That’s the kind of impact I want to make.”
If she had to sum herself up in three words: Curious. Optimistic. Driven. And we couldn’t agree more!
Welcome to the team, Kyndal. We’re glad you’re here!
