Meet the Team

Dana Spencer

Director of Client Experience

Raised in Leawood, KS. Dana enjoyed a childhood enriched by the opportunity to travel widely with her family. Often, she’d accompany her father–a highly respected wholesaler in the financial industry–on business trips. Meeting her father’s colleagues and customers and hearing him speak at industry seminars nurtured her ambition to join the financial industry. As a young girl, she even had her own desk in his home office, where she would pretend to make advisors’ calls, side by side with her dad.

After graduating from high school, Dana attended her first two years of college in Indian Wells, CA. Missing friends and family in KC, she returned to her roots and graduated from Kansas State University with a B.S. in Business Administration with a major in Management.

With 28 years in the financial services industry, Dana has a robust background working on the retail and wholesale side of the business. In her role as Director of Client Experience at StoryOne, she supports all aspects of client experience and the operations of our Kansas City office.

She began her career in financial management as a sales assistant, working for Paine Webber, (now UBS), where she earned her Series 7, 63, 65 and Life/Health/Variable Contracts licenses and went on to be a financial advisor. Her journey took a turn when she realized she enjoyed the client relationships, service, research and operations side of the business more than being an advisor. This led her to work as a Registered Sales Assistant with several Kansas City financial firms. Dana then spent 6 years in the retirement services/401(k) side of the business as Vice President, Strategic Relationship Management for John Hancock, partnering with advisors, TPAs and business owners in Kansas and Western Missouri and their 401(k) plans.

Dana is devoted to service–just as passionate about assisting her work team and clients as she is volunteering with her husband, Steve, at her church and other local ministries. One of Dana and Steve’s greatest joys now is spending time at their home in the country south of Overland Park with their horses and dogs –enjoying visits from their KC based blended family; her daughter Rylee, son Kail and Steve’s two daughters, Megan and Bethany, and a total of 4 grandchildren.
